#MeetTheSingers #Baritone David Davani Age 22: I remember going to see a production of Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera when I was very young, but I became genuinely enchanted with opera after seeing La Rondine a few years later. From that night on, I would always have opera playing in my head when I could not have it playing on the radio. I started my musical journey as a clarinetist, singing the music I love through the instrument. Eventually, I naturally gravitated to presenting these melodies as the composers intended: for the voice. #operaidols #DistrictAuditions #NationalCouncil #EasternRegion #MetOpera
#MeetTheSingers #Baritone Christopher Stockslager Age 24: I started singing in 9th grade, and I moved into classical singing my first year of undergrad. I got into opera because my first voice teacher more or less ordered me to listen to Joan Sutherland - and I did. I'm still an obsessive fan of hers and always will be!
I love opera because even though some of the stories vary in how believable they are, I always go and stay for the music. Opera is like the Vocal Olympics; one can't sing anything more challenging, and there is something incredibly exciting with what one can do with an un-amplified voice. It's wonderful to healthily push a voice's boundaries and hear others do it as well. Opera is exciting!
My favorite opera is Lucia di Lammermoor and my number one dream role would have to be Rigoletto. Someday down the road, I'd LOVE to sing that part; the drama, the incredible music, the high notes - sign me up! #operaidols #DistrictAuditions #NationalCouncil #EasternRegion #MetOpera
