Where are they now 2017 - Part II

Pictures in order of description below

Since the MONC, this New Yorker moved to California (and unfortunately not to sit at the beach)! I joined LA Opera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist program where I’ve performed roles in Macbeth, Salome, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and Bernstein’s Wonderful Town. I return this season to sing Dancaïre in Carmen, Maximilian in Candide, and Marullo in Rigoletto, as well as Ulisse in Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria. Also this season I make my Kennedy Center debut in a solo recital with Bradley Moore under the auspices of Vocal Arts DC, as well as a debut with the Orchestre National de Lille. This summer was a superb one, and saw me in the lead role of the critically acclaimed US Premier of The Trial by Philip Glass at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and back at the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival to perform everything from Bach to Mahler to Babbitt.

I’m in France at the moment at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence singing a Commendatore, in a Don Giovanni production I’ll also be doing at the Festival de Beaune, Opera National de Lorraine, and in Luxembourg! Then I go back to New York for my second season in the Lindemann program at the Met, and I end the season making my Kennedy Center Debut in the Rossini Stabat Mater. It’s a good year!

I am currently in Aix en Provence, singing Mercedes in Carmen. Some other things I will be singing this year are Dorabella at the Opera de Lille, Flora at the Opera Paris, Zerlina at the Dallas Opera and Erika at Glyndebourne. I also have a few concerts lined up: Ravel’s Shéhérazade, Berlioz’s Nuits d’été….

I am having a wonderful time in Austria, but my time here is coming to an end quickly. My wife, Hailey Clark, has a fest contract at Theater Basel in Switzerland so we are moving there in a couple of weeks. I will return to the States in January to sing The Duke in Rigoletto at the North Carolina Opera and then in February I begin rehearsals at the Virginia Opera as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor. I will then sing in a concert version of Candide with the Warsaw Philharmonic in Poland before returning to the USA to sing Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Central City Festival in Colorado. Once the summer (2018) is over I then move to Dresden Germany to sing several great roles at the famous Semperoper, including Rodolfo (La Bohème), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Faust (Faust), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), and a few others.
I want to tell the donors how much they mean to me and all the singers that they help. They are a lifeline for us and I can personally say that, through the Met competition, they helped me to just keep going in an extremely difficult industry. Through their giving, they gave me the means to be able to put food on the table, keep studying, and keep singing. I will always, ALWAYS be grateful for their generosity.
— Tenor Joseph Dennis - 2015 Grand Finals Winner
I’ve been festing in Frankfurt since September 2016, where I have a contract until the end of the next season, during which I’ll sing Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Eustazio (Rinaldo), Quinault (Adriana Lecouvreur), and Releigh (Roberto Devereux). I will also have my Don Giovanni role debut in Santiago (Chile) in April 2018.
— Bass Daniel Miroslaw - 2016 Semi Finalist
Currently, I am a studio artist of Houston Grand Opera. I just finished my first season at HGO and will be returning for the 2017-18 season as a second year studio artist. I am happy to tell you I will be appearing as Germont in La Traviata at HGO’s 2017-18 season. This year, I got 3rd prize at the Loren Zachary Competition. I still feel so thankful to all the MONC donors and the wonderful tuxedo I received when singing on the stage of the MET. Many people have told me that it is a great tuxedo and I am wearing this to all my concerts and competitions.
